Metallica has announced that they will be performing in Mexico on August 1st and 2nd at Sports Palace in Mexico City. According to the band's website they will unveil a completely new stage and show once there. Apparently the new shows and stage will feature iconic moments from the band's 30 years of touring. Not only that, the size of the stage will also be twice the size of the World Magnetic set up.
The tickets for the concerts goes on sale on March 24th at 11:00 AM over at ticketmaster.mx. There will also be a Banamex pre-sale starting on March 22nd at 11 AM and ending at March 23rd at 8:00 PM. Met Club members should apparently log in to access information regarding a special pre-sale, beginning on March 20th at 11:00 AM and ending on March 21st at 8:00 PM

According to Rolling Stone, Nimród Antal (director of Predators) will be directing the first 3D live concert Metallica film.
With filming to begin in August, the film will be combining both documentary and concert footage. A theatrical release for 2013 is predicted.
Lars Ulrich, Metallica's drummer said that he's been a fan of Antal's since Kontroll and Antal said that he's very excited to work with the band, "Metallica has always been a huge part of my life, and it’s an incredible opportunity when we get to work with our heroes."

Metallica has unveiled a video hinting that a big announcement will be revealed on February 7th at 11 AM PT, loudwire reports.
The message in the video is the following: “You’ve seen them at festivals across the world. But you’ve never seen them…”

According to Nielsen SoundScan, Metallica's self-titled 1991 album has been declared the top-selling album of the last 20 years.
The disc has sold more than 15 million copies in the United States during that time span. Shania Twain's "Come on Over" was the closest competition, which came up short of 200,000 in sales.
The album, which was released over 20 years ago, was a huge commercial breakthrough for the band, and spawned the hits, ‘Enter Sandman,’ ‘Nothing Else Matters’ and ‘The Unforgiven.’

It has been confirmed by Metallica that they're going to release a 3D movie next year (2013). So far there aren't many details available regarding the movie or its content. Metallica themselves stated that the movie is in its earliest stages of production but that it should be ready to be released in theaters sometime in 2013.

Metallica announced through their website that they will release Beyond Magnetic on CD as well, not just through digital downloads. During a special event last month to celebrate the band's 30th anniversary, Metallica played unreleased track from Beyond Magnetic.
Due to the overwhelming response from fans, Metallica decided to go "Old School" and release Beyond Magnetic on CD. The EP will be out in stores on January 30th world-wide and on January 31st in North America.

This year's edition of the Rock in Rio festival, which takes place at "The City Of Rock" in Barra da Tijuca, Brazil, will be live streamed via YouTube for fans all around the world to see!
Some of the acts scheduled to perform at this year include Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Katy Perry, Shakira, Stevie Wonder, Coldplay, Rihanna and more.
The biggest music festival in the world starts September 23 and ends October 2. You can watch it all go down on Rock in Rio’s YouTube channel when the time comes.

Music-News.com and Undercover.fm are reporting that Lou Reed and Metallica will be releasing their joint album, "Lulu", on November 1.
Originally the idea was to record an album covering Reed's old songs, but Reed wanted to record new songs with material he had written for "Lulu Plays", a German theater group production.
Metallica's lead guitarist, Kirk Hammett, noted that it's not a Metallica album or a Lou Reed album, but "a new animal, a hybrid."
