In 7th grade he became the lead singer in the band Flush and debuted on the stage for the first time in his career, opening for Impious. When he was 16 he joined the band Imperial sun later known as Depleted and shredded metal riffs for a few years until the band split up in 2002. Then he started the band Sink with his friend Martin Klem playing bass. A few months later his old band member from Flush, John Fornanger joined on guitar and they started working on an set list. Ulf Bogren joined on drums and they soon recorded their first EP called Sink. In 2004 they recorded an full length album called When changes came and August sessions - live in studio. However the band split up in fall 2005 due to geographical problems.
Erik Lundgren then continued writing songs and started working on an solo album. 2007 he released 500 miles from home and started gaining some response from the web. 2008 he released Canvas where he started to mix genres and instruments to find his sound. 2009 he went low-fi and made Ashes. Late 2009 he moved to japan and wrote One for the road which he released 2010 when he had gotten back from his travels, a very folk inspired album featuring both shamisen and ukulele to set the mood right. 2011 he released Forms and formations and Feathered, where Forms and formations is filled with synthesizers and vocal sounds, strange beats and experimental sounds, Feathered is more plain folk rock. Having great success with the Japanese crowd since One for the road, he made the Feathered album as an post diary from his travels and memories connecting to both his childhood and his recent life.
2012 he is releasing 3 albums as an triple album called; Escaping blue, Escaping, red, Escaping yellow. And also launch his new rock & roll project called Ballroom bastards.
Erik Lundgren is not pinned down by genres or commercial ties. He makes his music free for all to download and he likes trying new things. As an instrument collector he wants to surprise his audience with new sounds and instruments each release he makes. Everything from snapping rubber bands and bathtub percussion to Japanese ocarinas and shamisen. With the mentality of music is everywhere, and inspiration is right there, in front of your eyes, all you have to do is to close them and listen. Close
